Public Spaces

Public spaces located in complex urban environments need to cater for the diversity of people who live, work, play and move there. A diversity of users and reasons for visiting a site can often guarantee its success – by constantly bringing a space to life. But this can also bring complexity.

“The successful design of desirable, efficient and functional public spaces can only be achieved when the existing and future movements of different users, pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles, are comprehensively understood.”

We work with our clients and partners to design public spaces that meet the needs of individuals and multiple user groups. Our pedestrian studies services include pedestrian connectivity and comfort analysis, as well as pedestrian modelling. Our evidence-based understanding of pedestrian movement can be used to test design scenarios for future growth.

Our integrated team of consultants, designers and analysts works alongside local authorities and businesses to create solutions that combine technology and innovation – while putting the interests of communities at the heart of our studies.
