Momentum Transport Canada continues growth with appointment of Pablo Cabrera

Momentum Transport Canada has appointed Pablo Cabrera as an Assistant Consultant in its Montreal office.

February 2023

Pablo pursued his undergraduate studies in Economics at Universidad Rafael Landivar, Guatemala. He then obtained his Master’s degree in Urban Planning from the Université de Montréal. Pablo wants to have an impact on the quality of life of people by improving mobility in their daily lives. Pablo is passionate about alternative modes of transportation to the car and the environmental, social, health and economic benefits that are involved.

Pablo has started his career working with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in managing sustainable development projects and research the relationship between the economy and the environment. In Montreal, he worked for a non-profit organization as a project agent in development. Throughout his career he has also participated as a guest researcher with several research centres and international organizations, including the Comisión Economica para America Latina (CEPAL) of the United Nations.

At Momentum, Pablo will support the development of key projects in Canada and the United States by bringing his technical and social expertise to Momentum projects.

Commenting on his appointment, Pablo said: “The transportation of people and goods is one of the main sources of CO2 emissions in the world and in Quebec today. Car-centered development has created constant pressure on urban spaces by requiring more and more infrastructure to function optimally. This pressure translates into a constant increase in traffic congestion and other negative externalities related to car use. I am very excited to work with the Momentum team to offer human-centered solutions and participate in innovative projects that attempt to limit the impact of the car in Quebec.”

Amélie Cossé, Director and Co-founder at Momentum Transport Canada added: “Since our launch in Canada almost 5 years ago, we have been involved in a number of exciting projects across North America – including many discussions on how transport planning can transform how public spaces are used. We’re excited to welcome Pablo to the team and benefit from his social sciences and economics background to support our sustainable mobility recommendations for our clients.”
