Services

The project is located in a very dense area of Montreal. The development proposals include a 23-story building with 556 residential units and a three-story building with a mixed-use development of residential and retail. The development will also include a three-level underground parking with 264 parking spaces. Momentum was specifically commissioned to assess the vehicular flow of the existing ramp access to future-proof it for the future underground car park. Indeed, the ramp is proposed to be shared between the existing and proposed buildings.
A static assessment of the ramp’s capacity was first conducted to estimate the number of vehicular trips for both the existing and proposed developments. In addition, a swept path analysis and a visibility study were carried out on the existing ramp, to assess the risk of congestion and the potential conflicts between vehicles. To help maximize capacity and comfort, two high-level options were developed for the concept design with different degrees of impact for the architectural design of the project. Both options aimed at maximizing visibility and providing ample passing space internally.

Integrated Cities

The study allowed the developer Broccolini to ensure that its construction was integrated into the public space and that the project would not create a vehicular overflow on Guy Street at the underground car park access.

Economic Advantage

Sharing the existing ramp with the neighboring building allowed the developer to reduce its construction costs since a new ramp was not required.
